Treat a kid like an amateur, and they’ll play like one. Treat a young artist like a professional, and they’ll become one.

Music School Philosophy

We don’t simply offer “music lessons” - we teach life lessons through the metaphor of music.

Each teacher’s curriculum is uniquely customized and co-written with each individual student for a tailored learning experience. Lessons progress at the pace set by the student, and in the direction they’re most excited to venture.

Students are introduced to basic technique and function before exploring a carefully crafted repertoire list curated by student and mentor. The co-written curriculum is tailored to students’ specific needs and used as a framework to study various other aspects of music like songwriting, live performance, improvisation, sound design, recording, and more.

We encourage our students to explore multi-instrumentalism and basic recording at a very young age. If your child can operate an iPad or a Smart TV, they can easily operate our recording rig and produce multi-track recordings all by themselves. We make it easy!

We do not “work” music - we PLAY music. The core of our philosophy is to constantly encourage a playful atmosphere to help strengthen the musical communication skills necessary to speak the language. Your favorite musicians became as technically proficient as they are because they figured out how to play even while working. Even a tedious scale exercise with a metronome can be a fun musical journey in the right environment.

Self-Expression

Songwriting is one of the most therapeutic forms of self-expression available to us. Whether it’s expressing joy and gratitude for life, a coping mechanism for personal struggles, or some other deep emotional unburdening, radical self-expression is an essential component of mental health and wellbeing.

Organization

Life is chaotic and random, yet humans consistently crave order and organization to make sense of it all. Basic recording skills help young minds take seemingly overwhelming messes and organize their signal flow into logical, manageable paths to solve complex real-world problems.

Confidence

Nothing builds confidence like live performance. Voluntarily placing oneself in a vulnerable and visible place, proudly demonstrating learned skills in the face of adversity, and overcoming the fear of failure are all part of an empowering experience in character-building.
