CROWBAR PROTOCOLS

DAY OF SHOW
Get a good night's sleep the night before. Also, explain to me what that means because I have no idea. Bring your instrument, any charts you have (whether you need them or not), capos, picks, tuners, strings, gig bag, cables, your favorite stuffed animal, hype drink, fidget spinner, your neighbor's dog, the dirty laundry your Mom told you to pick up off the floor the last 2 weeks, whatever you need to be dope. 

CALL TIME / DISMISSAL

The day is divided into two sessions:

SESSION A: 2pm - 4:55pm
FAM PIC 4:55pm - 5:05pm
SESSION B 5:05pm - 8:30pm

Call time is 30 minutes prior to the start of your session (45 if you’re in the opening band). All students are required to stay for the entire session. Session A call time is 1:30pm, and is dismissed after the big group Fam Pic at 5:05pm. Session B call time is 4:35pm and is dismissed at the end of the show. Please do not leave early; failure to listen to our peers is literally everything wrong with this world. Please don’t be everything wrong with this world. 

PARKING 

Parking can be found on the street or in several paid lots along 8th avenue. The lot I prefer is on 8th ave at 18th/19th street. Please budget some time for parking, because it can be confusing if you're not familiar with Ybor. Definitely don't not arrive on time - make sure you have a sec to get acclimated, go sit down in the Green Room backstage, find the place where people poop, find the water vessel, read some of the wildly inappropriate amateur bathroom graffiti, and see if you can find all 3 Displace posters on the Crowbar walls (nobody has yet found the 3rd one!)

DOOR

Artist Check-In is at the main entrance where students will collect their #ArtistPass. This lanyard grants exclusive access to the stage, backstage Green Room area, as well as the secrets of the known Universe (and possibly some unknown Universes). Rock it proudly!

There is a $10 cover for all non-student attendees. CASH ONLY please and thanks! There is an ATM around the corner if need be, but plz plz plz bring little green pieces of paper so we don't have to send you to the fee-charging green piece of paper dispenser. My girl MLE at the door is very sweet and lovely, but she can also literally beat you up (and charge you for it) so don't mess with her lol.

SEATING

Crowbar is a standing / dancing venue for young and agile folks, but most of us old farts are lame and don't get down like that anymore. If you'd like to have a place to sit, it's recommended to bring a foldable camping chair to plop down on the dance floor. Just be mindful of the cameras, because there are a few and they're nice and so is our videographer Andrew, but not if you knock them over. Eyeballs plzzzzz. <3

PERFORMANCE

We are on an incredibly tight schedule with huge changeovers on multiple instruments between most songs. Keep an eye on our place in the master list and be ready just offstage STAGE RIGHT to literally sprint onstage with your instrument before the applause has even finished. If you make us late because you're not paying attention or pulling an Alleycat K and stuffing your face with pizza EVERY TIME she's supposed to be on stage I'm going to cry big fat tears. Master List will be sent out via e-mail, as well as posted in various spots around the venue. Please please keep an eye out! Can't stress this enough. If you're not sure when you're on, just hang out near the stage entrance and be ready to roll. 

FREAK OUT

Yeah like, literally, freak out. Get nervous, scared, terrified, uncertain, maybe even have a little panic attack. Cool. But then just go do it. Do the thing. Now is the time. Sure, this is a full-scale epic production that's being multi-angle video recorded to capture your mistakes from all sides and, sure, it's being multi-track audio recorded and professionally mixed to make sure we can CLEARLY hear every mistake everyone makes. Fine. But do it anyway. Nobody cares. 

I'd wager to say that I make more mistakes daily than anyone reading this. I'm a walking mistake. I'm hungry right now and I miss steak. That was a bad joke. See, that joke was a mistake! ASDLKJHASDKLJHASDIUYWQIOUEYHASDBJKH

Point is, the sooner you become comfortable with the inevitable, the sooner that fear will subside. You're gonna screw up - and there's comfort to be found in that! Maybe not at the gig, maybe not this month or year, but sometime someday somewhere somehow you're gonna screw something up. Big deal. I can't wait to hear about it. I hope I'm there to witness it first-hand so we can laugh about it together and just move on with our lives. 

There are two universal truths in this life: 

(1) Everybody poops

(2) Everybody makes mistakes

Here’s hoping both happen on a Crowbar Showcase Day. <3
