OK so don’t hate me, but I kinda have a radical approach to flyers.

In a world increasingly overrun by AI, I see intentionally imperfect art as a revolution against mechanical computer perfection. Painfully but proudly human, almost exaggeratedly so. So for this series imma make them by all hand, even though I’m absolute ass at anything visual lol. 

But my mediocrity illustrates a powerful point (pun intended) because people typically use AI to make up for an artistic deficiency that they have. 

Can’t make music? Suno. 

Can’t write creatively? ChatGPT.

Can’t draw? Midjourney.

I want to be intentionally unapologetically shitty at making flyers, and make them anyway. I want to make “the second worst flyer anyone could ever make.”

It’s the visual equivalent of lofi bedroom producer music philosophy, which was just a very “punk rock” reaction against high quality multi million dollar studios gatekeeping the industry. It’s like 3-powerchord songs reacting to infinitely complex jazz. It’s “nah f*** that, here’s what we did and we’re gonna keep doing it, and that’s ok.”

Also fun little tidbit: for as long as I can remember, all through college and through 19 years of teaching I have always written every single chart or lesson or whatever on graph paper. I have no idea why; some deep-seated psychological bullshit that some therapist could probably unpack for $300/week if I was so inclined. Point is, the Pilot G2 .10 series pen on graph paper is and has always been my vibe. And since it’s done (poorly) by my hand alone, no AI font is gonna match my human shittiness.
