THE COSMO CLAUSE: 3- month initial committment policy:

In individual private lessons, a student’s success or stagnation is 100% dependent on them, and also exclusively effects them. There are no other affected parties to consider.

Bands are not the same. When you commit to a band, you become an integral and essential component of a larger organization. If all pieces are functioning optimally and everyone in the collective assumes individual responsibility for their interrelated roles, the band is a success. If even one of those parts is slacking, the whole band can’t help but suffer for it.

We don’t just casually place students in any band to fill roles. A tremendous amount of effort goes into studying the student’s musical preferences, historical practice habits and trends, performance experience, goals and ambitions, songwriting capabilities, and general compatability - before the group even meets. Once it does, we meticulously craft a customized ensemble curriculum together, and the focus of each respective individual lesson immediately shifts to adapt to this new gameplan.

It can take time for things to settle during this initial chaotic period, and some students may find that annoying. But a core philosophy of this school is teaching life lessons through the metaphor of music, and that includes strongly rejecting the overwhelming modern tendency to abandon something at the first sign of adversity or discomfort. To help prevent this, we require a minimum 3-month committment to any band before enrollment can be finalized.
